Anyone dealt with this merchant? I ordered a chisel for my mortise machine from him and paid with Paypal. Next day an email saying it was out of stock and I had been refunded my £80. Paypal, as is their wont, held the refund for two weeks before releasing funds. This in itself isn't the traders fault but he caused it by listing something he could not supply. Since then I have avoided him but he does list some interesting stuff,so am I cutting off my nose to spite my face? Has anyone
bought from him without problems?

Bill

They have a shop near the Geffrye museum in Shoreditch. It's all that's left of the cabinetmaking suppliers of old, now it caters mostly to the building/maintenance trades.
The Ebay shop looks mostly Brimarc stuff with a few European Ulmia/Hild bits

I've ended up with loads of bits and pieces from that seller without ever really noticing - just going on price, you know.

Always turns up very quickly.

Actually thinking about it if I pay with paypal from my bank account its a direct debit so I dont get the refund untill thats been paid but it wont be 2 weeks more like 3 days after the amount has gone out of my account

I've never bought from them on ebay but I did used to use the shop when I had a workshop down the road. Always seemed sound and ready to discount their prices. They are different people to tyzak saw makers but the business is a continuation of the tyzak saws who had the premisses on Kingsland road and another in Old Street. I can't find it right now but I read a post once from the current owners about the business' history, I think it was on this forum

I've seen their stuff advertised on ebay and was aware of their shop with the ability to call in on a regular basis

On numerous occasions what was available on ebay was not available in the shop

Ordered items from them on a few occasions and have always delivered in good time without any problems.

I've just bought a couple of winbags off them through eBay delivered on time and a reasonable price.

I had ordered a set of 4 from a guy in Reading for just over what I've paid for 2. The scumbag never sent them and didn't reply to any messages. Took me ages to get a refund :(. The same guy was still on there last week ripping people off and has just added a zero to the end of his name and opened another account.

Why do paypal hold your refund?
I have never had that with a refund to me or one I have issued?

Ian

This happens every time I get a Paypal refund. When I question it I am told they are holding the funds while they investigate potential fraud. #-o

My Wife has a pier de merde in Old Town, but yes, Purton's alright, I don't understand PayPal in that case.

It's all very odd. The few refunds I've had over the years have all processed very quickly.

I have had loads of stuff off them and never had any issues with them, actually got to go into the shop last week and spent another 100 quid ( kid in a candy shop syndrome)

Hi Bill,
I have used them in the past and have been 100% happy with them and I will be ordering from them again in the next week or so (Tormek SG-200 wheel ).

Peter.

I ordered a collet extension for my router and had no problems at all. Good product, well made and prompt delivery.

I've bought a few things from the e-bay shop. Always as described
and promptly dispatched.

Jim
