Butlers tray

This is my next project - an oval folding table a bit like this one:

I can only find butlers tray hinges at places like Rutlands and Isaac Lord and they seem v expensive - do I need to make this with these special hinges?

Not cheap but you will need tradition Butlers Tray hinges if you want them to snap into the 90 degrees position.

Price £ 13.61 Plus shipping and handling Plus VAT for one.

As always total delivered price is never obvious until you get to the checkout.


Certainly puts a premium on a project such as this, maybe all to the good in that it puts an onus on maker to do as good a job and use the best of materials as possible.

Perhaps that was/is one of the main driving forces to make a quality item, the cost of the raw materials needed.
