Burr oak bowl

I thought I'd share a recent bowl. Burr oak with a few cavities turned to 3 - 5mm thick and finished in Danish oil. The undercutting was with a Sorby swan neck tool rather than my preferred Simon Hope carbide. The bowl was too big to go inboard on my Myford ML8 and since it was outboard, the direction of rotation wouldn't allow for the Hope tool. I shall have to have words with young Mr. Hope... or move onto another lathe with a wider swing.

26cm diameter and 7cm tall.

It's destined to be a wedding present, tomorrow.

I like the shape, I don't think I've seen that before and it also has an element of fragility.
