Just cut myself!

I just can't seem to set this damn bullnose plane right! The blade's either too far out or too far in!

Got stroppy and shoved it ... big mistake after just havng sharpened it!

How do you set these right?

I see how cool the little wheel on a larger plane is now.

With the lever cap slackened off very slightly, tap the end of the blade (the blunt end, not the sharp end  ) very gently with a small hammer, while sighting along the sole. Set it to take a very fine cut.

Cheers

to retract the blade a little, gently tap it on the top of the nose. By tapping on the end of the blade and on the top of the nose, you can sneak up on the setting you want.

Thanks guys.

Another thing ... in my eagerness to sharpen it, I didn't notice whether the bevel was on top or at the bottom!

The blade fits both ways!

Which model is it?

If the bed angle is more than about 40 degrees, the bevel should be down. Less then 25, and the bevel should be up. In between and its anyones guess! :)

If it's a number 75 then you'll have fun. Worst plane they ever made - with the possible exception of about another dozen or so clunkers
