Contemplating dipping into the world of biscuit joining as planning on making some MDF wardrobes.

Not flush with cash as have been on a tool buying rampage in the last month so after a solid budget option that will do the job well and last a few years of weekend use.

Any ideas?

Having owned a wickes biscuit jointer for a while and now have a Makita one the Makita one is much better.

But

The wickes one was perfectly useable but I did need to buy a better blade. The original one was too thin for most biscuits.

First post here ..

I have a Freud JS102 , for about 10 years - it was cheap - it works , things to note:
-blade , mine is fine - but a cheap blade may kick as you plunge it , plunge slowly .
- fence - rubber buffers help to keep the fence where you placed it - plastic ones could slip
- they are very simple machines , basically an angle grinder with a fence - cheap may be as noisy as cheap angle grinder
- research how to use one - there are plenty of online guides , practice making a small box to get the feel of it

you really need a decent flat surface to use one , you can use the stock you are jointing on the floor as a guide once you understand the biscuit game.

what about a biscuit cutter for a router? cheaper and probably better than a cheap jointer, if you already have a router.

+ 1 you can do a lot with it such as grooving, most things a biscuit jointer will do and it will be much cheaper

hmmm.... I do have a 1/4 router - Makita RT 0700. Had looked at the trend router bit but was unsure how good it would be.

May get one and try it out and wait and see if a Trend T20 or simular comes up at a good price at some point down the road
