As someone who has spent their entire adult life earning a living making stuff for others; boring stuff mainly like roofs and fences and garden gates, also assembling and fitting kitchens and wardrobes, that sort of thing, i would like to now make some stuff for myself and first on the list (when i get the time) is a nice bookcase or two, then a bed and a dining table & chairs and then some stuff for the garden.
Top of my bucket list though is to build my own timber framed house and dream workshop in a quiet spot with no neighbours. The only fly in the ointment is the ridiculous price of building land in this country. I keep searching for the right plot at the right price or some derelict house i could knock down and start again but the search has been a fruitless one so far. The older i get, the more this dream eludes me and short of inheriting a windfall, i think it may be one i have to let go, but not quite yet. My reserve plan is to convert a suitable vehicle to a comfortable mobile home and set off travelling before i punch my clock for the last time.
