judging from the broom handle i bought from toolstation the other day, It could possibly be off the shelf from toolstation???

the young lad brought me out 5 to choose from and they where all split twisted and just a bit poo!!

granted they are only 2 squids each....

I was going to say Photoshop as well because the cast shadow in the photo doesn't look right. But it's completely convincing in this photo of the same thing:

Before we speculate any further on how you can do bending this extreme this is the work of a sculptor, so there's every reason to suppose the handle isn't even wood. While it could have been carved from the solid, it can just as easily have been sculpted, cast in resin and then carefully painted.
 
The handle still looks full length, it should be shorter.

Well it's not any photoshopping trick. I walked past it at Liberty window London. But can't post the pic, pic is over 256kb

But I was thinking maybe some kind of Cnc routing?

It's definetly wood, and I couldn't see any joints or breaks.
 
Carved, the grain dosn't flow round the knot.
