Today is going from bad to worse.
Just had a delivery of some rough sawn planks and have only just noticed they have delivered one less than they should of, or that I ordered.

It has then dawned on me that I have not ordered enough wood.
I have sat down trying to work out how much more wood I need but for the life of me cannot seem to fathom it out. I have worked out I need at the maximum 200 planks and the least being I have 1 plank too many. i have also calculated the amounts to many numbers in-between those

Would one of you be kind enough and let me know how many planks I will need in total.
It is 3x1 / 75mm x 25mm and it comes in 4m lengths
I need to cut it into 325mm lengths for palings.
Each will be spaced 25mm.
Total length required is 21m.
I also need some 2x1 for the rails that is easy to work out. I will need 42m of that.

Today I had delivered 27m of 2 x 1 so i need another 3 x 5m lengths to complete order
Also 5 x 4m lengths of the 3 x 1 (75mm x 25mm )

This job was originally going to go around some pampass grasses in the centre of our front lawn, but because of a major miscalculation I am now also going to have to do around 2 edges of the lawn.

You needed 18 lengths of 3x1 so another 13 needed
Calculation is 10 per running meter (75mm +25mm gap = 100mm). 1000/100=10 x 21mx10 = 210
From a 4m length you can get 12 pieces 325 long
So 210/ 12= 17.5 so 18
If the 3x1 is over size you will get away with 17. If undersized you might need 19
I would have ordered 20 as there is always waste

Thats fantastic PAC, I have been struggling all day to get that formula.

Thank you very much.
