Hi folks
Thinking of buying a Fox 10" table saw from Rutlands and wondered if anyone has bought from them and what were they like to deal with please?
Thanks
Steve

I bought the same saw from them and had no problems. It was deleivered on time so I have no complaints at all.

They can be good and they can be bad. Trouble is they don't say on their website whether the item is in stock, so its best to ring first.

I have waited several months for some clamps which were on back order. The items I have ordered which were in stock have been delivered within a couple of days.

Hi Steve,

I have shopped with Rutlands a lot and I have never had any problems at all. I have also had some very good deals. On the other hand there are a few members who have had some problems with them.

The Fox is a very nice saw.

Cheers

Mike

The website says the Fox saw is delivered direct from Fox, so you shouldn't have any stock problems.

Does it mentioned whether this item is dispatched from the Fox/Hamilton Group?

That's what was advertised when I bought my Fox mortiser a few months back and I had to wait three days for delivery because it didn't come direct from Rutlands themselves - not that it is any kind of problem, of course. You may want to be aware, that's all. :)

Ordered from them twice in two weeks, both items here within 24hrs of ordering. They were small items however. When I ordered a machine from them there were problems, but those problems were put right pretty efficiently.

Still feel more confident with Axminster, though.

They're very good for what I have used them for.

I have taken note from this forum and got them to check their stock and dispatch details carefully, but have been fine on some large and some small low value items. Dare I say a tiny but more reliable than Axminster for delivery.

I've ordered quite a lot from Rutlands over the years, big and small and never had any problems, everything arrived safe and sound and very well packaged!

I've had terrible service from rutlands, I certainly shan't be using them again.

I ordered a fox mitre saw back in October, and the wrong saw (old model) was delivered to the wrong address, and the saw was dangerously broken, and supplied with instructions only in French.
It took 3 goes for them to pick it up as a return (I had to deal with Hamiltons for this bit - rutlands washed their hands of it), it was eventually picked up on the 2nd of November, and I was promised a full refund once it had been arrived back at Hamiltons. Its now over a month later, and after loads of phone calls (and them not calling me back like they say they will) they have finally said that they've paid the refund. It won't appear on my card for a couple of days, so I'll have to take their word for it for now. I had to threaten them with trading standards, and going to my credit card provider to get the money back to get to this stage.
To my mind they are a complete and utter disgrace.
Glad some of you have managed to get good service from them though! :D

I have used Rutlands a reasonable amount over the last few years via the Internet. Service has always been good, if an item is out of stock they usually email quickly or sometimes telephone to ask if it is ok to put on back order. On the occasions I have phoned them they have been friendly and helpful.

my first order was 6+ weeks ago, a set of chisels

they sent a letter out saying out of stock, will be 5 days, after 2 weeks phoned them up and oh the delivery company has lost your order, we will send another set, week later phones back, they are out of stock again and im still waiting,

2 orders in the last 2 months , 1 item was out of stock and I cancelled it by e mail so no problems here , I was wary after reading some posts here, so I will continue to use them. :D

Same happened here, 2 Months for a 1m length of extraction pipe, it seemed that they couldn't care less when I spoke to them over the phone, or maybe he was having a bad day.

Steve

When we had finished the Rutlands' customer survey, I was so concerned at the poor result that I sent an email to the MD, thinking that he might be concerned.

To date I have had no reply.

Cheers,
Neil
