This is a project which I started and broke the back of this weekend, but with a few minor items to complete;

Since we got a dog last November there has been a never ending pile of coats and boots in the utility room, when people come back form walks they just get dumped. I've filled in a gap in the (horrible) existing units to provide storage for boots and coats;

Adjustable shelving strips which will support slatted shelves;

Right next to the door, so theres no excuse now!

Dan T would be proud of me - its largely oak veneered MDF with some solid oak edgings and frames. Still some mouldings to apply, shelves to make, coat hooks to screw on, screw plugs to fit etc. but I wanted to show the fruits of my weekends labour. :D

Cheers, Ed

Looks like a very practical project Ed, and well done to get so much done in a weekend, that would take me ages.

I see you left the spirit level in place for the photos - I hope the bubble is in the middle :)

regards

Brian

You just can't do a nasty project in pine to make me feel any better can you? Even a simple project like this you make look fantastic.. ;-)

In all seriousness, it looks very nice, the veneered MDF is starting to grow on me, I might even attempt to use some myself at somepoint..

Good job Ed

It's all done with carefully selected camera angles :wink:

Looks fantastic as always ed.

Where do you get your Veneered MDF from, do you mail order or somewhere local.

I made a bookcase out of MDF, again DanT would be proud as I spray finished it, and the dust was something else. Horrible stuff as you said it another thread today.

I was using up leftovers of stuff from other jobs on this one, so the veneered MDF has been sat around in the garage for about 4 years. It came from Fitchett and Woollacott in Nottingham originally. I collected on my roof rack which was a challenge.

Its a combination of 18mm and 6mm (or 20mm and 8mm as it really is)

Cheers, Ed

I don't know about that... I mean, if they have any respect for your work then they surely won't want to risk getting it dirty! :D :wink:

Lovely work as usual, Ed. :)

Thanks for the comments guys.

Work starts next weekend on the boat and coot rack. :lol:

Cheers, Ed

Very nice, can I ask out of curiosity what you pay for the brass strip.
I only ask as I need a bit of a giggle, I make a lot of bookcases and buy 6000 lengths per annum. :lol: :lol: I get it pretty cheap

What ever floats your boat - you should go and walk round B&Q if thats your thing you'd probably be soiling yourself.

I bought a pack of 10 X 1800mm strips from screwfix 4 or 5 years ago and cannot remember what I paid. They don't seem to have quite the same product now as its only 1m strips.

Cheers, Ed

Unfortunately your absolutly right, banned from the lot, B&Q, Homebase, Focus its when I get to the softwood prices that the bowels usually let go
:lol: :lol: :lol:

Apologies if I have upset you

No not really, it just seems strange to get enjoyment from the fact that not everyone has your clearly considerable buying power. No offence taken though, I'm not that easily upset. :)

Cheers, Ed

Yes, sorry, was a bit of a knobby request.
One of my biggest mistakes in life is not thinking before speaking and it seems I do it in the vertual world as well.
But I can't go into the big chains now as all I do is rant to my misses about rip off prices.

I know it is off topic, but I got baned from B&Q. I bought a hand staple gun but they did not stock the staples, and on the same visit they were out of medium sanding blocks because they were the most popular. I had a go at the manager and I was then told not to return.
