Hi all,

I bought three pairs of single extension Tandem drawer slides with blumotion, from Isaac Lord. I have just fitted a pair to a side table I am building, and I am dissapointed.

There is no soft close, infact there is more of a slam as there is a self closing mechanism. I am pretty sure they have sent me the wrong ones. The code on Isaac Lords website in 550H35B, yet the code printed on the side of the slide is 550H350-01B01.

Firstly, is there anything I am doing wrong? Do I have to set up the Blumotion? Or should it just... work.

Secondly, can anyone confirm that the code on the slide is for a blumotion version or not? Should it also have Blumotion stamped on the side?

Many thanks

They should not slam, about 4" from closing the spring will kick in and pull the draw shut, when the last 1" or so is reached the piston will have got upto pressure and slow the last bit of closing.

If you look at the grey palstic part of the mechanisum you should see a 5" long grey cylinder about 1/4" dia with a steel rod sticking out when the runner is extended, this is the cylinder and piston which damps the closing.

I don't tend to use single extension but looking at a full extension the number is 560H400-01B

I assume you have fitted the locking device which Isaac's sell separately?

Cheers Fellas,

Jason, is this what you mean by the cylinder?

There is no steel rod sticking out. The white plastic part (you can just see it tucked under) grabs a pin attached to the sliding part and pulls it closed.

Here is what is stamped on it.

I just want to make sure these are the wrong ones before I call Isaac Lord tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

Edit- Yes I used the locking devices.

I've never used these slides but intend to shortly. What does the locking device do? The IL site seems to indicate it's needed but not why

Cheers

Scott,

The locking device is screwed to the drawer front underneath the drawer. When you slide the drawer onto the runners, the locking device engages with the runner. They have a big orange release lever for when you want to remove the drawer.

As I said i'm not that familiar with the single ext'n but that looks like the piston, due to the shorter amount of movement the rod may be inside the plastic case.

This is a full ext'n one, you can see the cylinder with the extended rod to the rignt

Also have a look on the side of the rummer it should be stamped with something like " Blum TANDEM plus 30kg BLUMOTION," the plus and blumotion are the key to what you have got, its usually on the side where the screws go to mount it to the carcase.

The othjer reason for the locking device is to allow for height adjustment of the front of the draw.

Is it possible that you have the runners mounted in the wrong place ie too far back into the cabinet? If you do then the drawer will slam.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Tim,

I have fitted them at the front so that isn't the problem, but thanks anyway.

I have phoned Isaac Lord, and they are sending me new ones. However, they said that they are coming from the same box, so they might not be any different.

Thanks for all the help guys.

the runners with blumotion for that size will have a B after the number, 550H50B to be precice.. and you will need the locking devices as has been said. think they are T51L and T51R from memory but my memory isnt that good at the best of times. The runners you have can be retrofitted with blumotion add on as we had to do before they integrated it but is far cheaper to buy the whole runner.

I thought the 560's were full extension?

OK, problem solved. The replacements Isaac Lord sent me are blumotion. I've installed a pair, and they are great.

Thanks very much for all the help and suggestions.
