Hi

i've been asked to make quite a large jewelry case and smaller ones I have made have had wooden runners but not suitable for this and was wanting to know if anyone could pass on some knowledge about what might be suitable.

I think full extension is needed and would have to be mounted on the side as there is no divider between the drawers, and something that would look pleasing to the eye.

Thanks

Ian

Blum Tandem runners do not show as they fit to the bottom of the draw but to the side of the carcase, I think woodfit has all the sizes on their site, biggist problem is you loose about 23mm of draw depth below the base to take the runner

Jason

Edit Woodfit don't have it on the web so have a look at page 8 on this PDF

What sort of length runners are you looking for, some of the full ext'n groove runners are not that obtrusive. And being set into a groove you get no loss of draw width like the bigger side mount FE runners.

The depth of the drawer is 430mm so I suppose double that for full extension.

Wooden runners would be ok if the drawer was to be removed to gain excess to the back but my fear is if the customer pulls the drawer out 3/4 of the travel it would put a lot of strain on the runners and box.

cheers

Have a look at Woodfit code BR440, these are full ext'n grove runners that are made to fit into a 6mm grove in the drawside.

I've used them a couple of times on hall tables where they don't nee dto be as robust as kitchen runners but you want something that will open easily to the full depth.

Thanks Jason,

I think the job will have to be looked at again as I'm not fussed on the metal ones.

Thakns for the help

Ian

Do you need to have any runners at all. Could you not just make a traditional drawer that fits into its own space in the carcase.

cheers
