is there a knack to putting the scroll saw blade into the blade clamp
When I go to give it the final the blade goes off Centre
Used the saw with the blade just a little bit off centre
It will either pull out of the bottom clamp or snap off at the bottom clamp
It is not the clamp that you tighten with the Allen key
It is the Clamp you tighten with the grandfather clock key
Saw in question is a HEGNER

I am sure Scrimper will be along shortly :)

I think you are using the regular clamp that pinches the blade to hold it. There are different sizes of these clamps - for very fine blades, medium blades and coarse blades - based on thickness of the blade. I am not sure how to identify which blade clamp is which , one has a dimple on the bottom of the clamp. If the blade is not centered in these clamps the tip of the blade can bend and break. To help keep the blade in the clamp sand the sides of the blade with fine sandpaper and also the sides in the clamp to roughen them to get a better grip on the blade. Again if the tension is too much can cause blade to pull out of clamp. Blade not centred in the clamp causes the blade clamp to be pulled so it is not held straight in line with the blade when in the arm notch and can bend the blade like a hockey stick and break . These comments refer to the lower clamp only.

When you insert the blade in the clamp push it down so it makes contact with the clamp screw and is centred on the point of the vee [on the clamp] then pull the blade out very slightly so that it does not touch the clamp screw, then tighten up. What often happens is that when the blade is in contact with the clamp screw it moves the blade slightly as you tighten it up.
