So this weekend was time to start some changes. Main problems at the moment with it are :

Celing is exposed fibreglass insulation :

Whole room is run off a single plug socket (a spur from the house), which results in this :

Old bench which isn't fixed to anything (so when I use it for sawing the bench moves in rythym with the saw !)

another bench along the wall which is 1 foot deep and only good for collecting rubbish

So first thing was to cover the ceiling in a combination of 3 mill white faced hardboard, and for the awkward bits using office ceiling tiles (very easy to cut), you can only just see it in this picture (forgot to take a proper picture and its too cold to go out there now) :

So first thing to work on is the electrics situation. At the moment the previous owners of the house had put chipboard down to the rubbish benches. So I used the circular saw to cut the chipboard to make way for a plywood trunking, all the way round the workshop. As I don't have a vacuum cleaner attachment for the saw it shot all the sawdust up into the air and all over me, came out of the workshop with a 5 inch sawdust cone on top of my head !

So next is a start made on making the trunking :

Next update dependent on having another rainy weekend.

A bonus of the Yandles show visit :

Looks better already - take it that's a new consumer unit in the last picture ?
I find electrical sockets a bit like clamps ; you can never have too many

I like the idea of the trunking, Paul. I assume this is for cables and sockets.

yes thats right, idea actually came from plug on one of my other threads :

seems like an excellent way to keep flexibility.

Yup a new consumer unit, speifically for the workshop, plan is for ten double-sockets at first. I'm not going to put them in though until I've decided on a rough layout for the shop (my tablesaw, router and SCMS are all mobile), so I'm going to move things around to different positions to see what works where (and where to build a new workbench)
