There are certain rare and happy occasions when my wife and my needs coincide - don't ask, but I am in the market for a biscuit jointer :D .

Any advice would be appreciated and since I need it soon, make and model would be very useful. I don't want the most expensive but I want one that will serve me well for many years.

Thanks in advance.

This has been covered before so do a search, try sip for a start.
Its about £50 and people that have got it have been happy but some one else
will give some more info :)

One of the most recent threads on this is here where longevity and accuracy are chewed-over. There's also some pro and con for cheap verses expensive here. But there's plenty of other, and contradictory, opinions on the site. Good luck finding what you want!

These incidences are rarer than hens teeth...however when mine was feeling very generous she bought me a Lamello C2. Now I have to admit that it was a lot of dosh, but I've never regretted her buying it for me  Its built like a RR and supremely accurate - Rob

Thanks to the three of you.

My problem is that I need to invest in many pieces of equipment almost from a standing start, and finances do not allow me to do this. Hopefully in about 18 months I will have an empty workshop to equip. I hate buying cheap and have been very disappointed in the past with imports. Good tools are a pleasure to use, but I need to be pragmatic at this time. SIP seem to have improved their quality greatly recently, so, after eyeballing the SIP I might get it. With a two year guarantee that works out at £25 a year if it blows up after two. In time, I will gradually ratchet myself up to kit that is a pleasure to own. Of course I could by a Mafell or Lamello but then I would not be able to afford a table saw, jointer, thicknesser etc, etc.

I will let you know what I get and what I think of it.
