Birch ply, CP/CP

I'm considering building a bookcase from 40mm birch ply, core visible, surfaces quality white laminate. I have seen CP/CP birch ply is much more economical but is it the face that is lower quality or the core?
Obviously I wouldn't want any voids showing.
