Chunky's good sometimes, not everything has to be delicate. How did you find Birch to turn? The little bit I have had was like turning wet blotting paper. (Mind you it had been lying in the woods for a few years)

This piece looks as though it has a medieaval influence. Like it with the burnt highlights

HI,

It was quite wet when rough turned, although I then left in a paper bag for a week to dry out, before finishing.

I quite like turning green stock, although having top wait to dry before finishing is a pain !

One mistake i did make was not being completely central when remounting, so the cup is a little oval

Thanks the comments

Same as everyone else said - it's nice, highlights work well, and nothing wrong with chunky
If making another, having the base a little smaller than the diameter of the bowl may make it look "lighter"

As richard says, base a little heavy but it came off the lathe in a near enough round shape and reasonable finish so what is there to complain about, well done.
