Hmmm Accuslice seems interesting, thanks for the info, the question then becomes what Band Saw do I buy and can I get the whole set up for about £300 in the UK.

Thanks also for advice about the melting, I think stepping down and trying to "hack/Mod" a saw is going to probably be a last resort if at all possible. However my understanding is a circular saw is good for cutting perspex off the shelf, tho.

I'm really looking for the most straight forward off the shelf method... and to find out the best machine/brand to buy.

Looks like I need to do some more research.

Keep the ideas coming tho.

I presume not, but there isn't an adjustable guillotine that would work is there? Can the picture framing industry help?

5mm is prob a bit thick for that.

I snuck the same advice in upthread: "...... and no real risk of burning/melting anything, as would be the case with motorised gear......"

How about a belt sander with a jig - many come with a variable speed option so you can turn the speed down low - something extending this idea, for instance to use a handheld sander with an attached jig that you could bring to the workpiece (rather than the other way round): http://lumberjocks.com/projects/22750 ?

How about a variable speed edge trimmer/router with an angle jig - ideally using a router with variable speed option: http://lumberjocks.com/topics/25919 ?

You've obviously got some cash burning/melting a hole in your pocket!

Cheers, W2S
