can anyone here help? I was given a scary price of nearly £200 for a set of TCT blades from NMA ( I think..) for the German ones, I brought some TCT from axminster, to fit most 260mm wide machines, but guess what, they are too wide for my machine. They were however only £45. Now I have to send them back...

What's a good place to get decent blades?

cheers, Mark

PM Cutting Solutions (member here) - I source all my blades from him and the quality and service is excellent.

Cheers

Karl

I am surprised you say 260 mm blades are too wide.
the 2600 should take 260x19x3 knives
what size were the Axi ones?
Do you need seating slots in the back edge. Searching is not clear if they are plain or slotted knives.

Hi perhaps I used the wrong descriptor, the blades I got are too deep, not wide, sorry, they are about 25mm deep, the ones currently in my machine are approx 17mm deep and no slotted back.

Just had a quick look at the cutting solutions website and could not see any blades my size in the product list...

Cheers, Mark

Cheap as chips and work well
Except the op asked for tct knives.

Another vote for Appleby woodturning from me

The are the proper single sided resharpen-able blades but instead of Scheppach logo they say Appleby Woodturning and you really do have to phone and ask for the price

I've only ever had Excellent service from them

Hope that helps Roger

I know you asked for TCT can i ask why ???
As my experience with the 260 shows that the HSS perform better
They give a much better finish which = Less strain on the rollers and drive as they tend to be sharper and are very easy to touch up. and the machine seemed to run Quieter
For me the big plus is I can resharpen them a lot more times than i could the TCT something i tend to do when ever i get a slack period.

I currently have 2 sets that I have used for 11 years now and last week bought a new standby set for that just in case moment LOL

Roger
