Bought a Bosch Athlete about 6 months back when in offer in JL, was about £150, been very pleased with it.

Battery life is ok about 25 mins in setting two of three. Enough to do two sets of stairs. Setting one which gives 60mins is a bit pointless ans setting three is a beast such that you can’t lift the thing off the carpet, but you only get 10mins.

Looked at the Dyson hand held jobby but all the weight is in the hand end of the unit and though it would get heavy quickly.

Their M.O. is a quick clean up then plug back in, for longer jobs round the house or a proper workshop tidy up I revert to the corded vac.

FWIW they make a Henry cordless these days- maybe not the hand held you were looking for but it has the dusting brush to clean up your bench top and the pointy crevice thingy. There's a version that comes with 2 batteries which should give you decent run time.
Also, Makita do one which might be a good buy if you already own some of their cordless power tools. Don't know if it's any good tho'.
Myself, I also have the Bosch Athlet- it's not bad, but it's not something I would use in the workshop
