So, me and SWMBO went round to our friends on Sat night for some lovely home made Paella and vino blanco (and fizzy grape juice for the missus). My mate asked me to bring round my new planes to show him (he's an engineer and likes the precision of the Veritas tools) so gets to the scraper and after lots of cooing and admiring noises he turns the knob holding the blade......whoooosh, ding!

It slipped straight out the bottom of the plane and landed corner first on his granite worktop  I haven't even managed to use it yet and one corner is bent as a nine bob note

Ah well, I suppose I would have to learn how to hone them sooner or later, now it's sooner.

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark,

wich scraper plane was involved? #80, #112, #212?

If #80 a file helps a lot. (And they're cheap, too.)

This one?

It's the #112.

The Instruction says you can use a file!

Shame about the blade, but did it leave its mark on the worktop? Could been seen as divine justice if it did.

Hi,

Blade dumping, I have done it with mine

it has a 3mm thick blade it would have left a mark in the worktop.
