Bed extension for Jet 1015?

Hi there,

First post, so bear with me!

I'm looking at getting my first lathe (second-hand Jet 1015 for ~£150. I'm concerned it will be just 2-3 inches short for the projects in mind. A quick Google search gives hope that I could get a bed extender but I'm seeing some conflicting prices and a lack of dimensions.

Can anyone tell me if this would fit the Jet 1015?

If you have not yet purchased a lathe and you are worried it will not be big enough I would suggest getting a bigger lathe from the start! it would be very frustrating if you spent your money on a machine then need to replace it. There are plenty of turners on this forum that can give you good advice.

Well I'm torn between the Jet 1015 and a Record DML 24x. The Jet 1015 has a larger turning circumference (but shorter bed) whereas the DML has a longer bed (but smaller turning circumference).

I  think the 1015 would be long enough, but I'd feel more comfortable knowing I could extend it if I needed to.
