I want to buy a replacement carbide tip for a hollowing gouge and I would appreciate hearing the experiences of anyone who has actually used Banggood or similar products. Many thanks.

I haven't used those. I did use az carbide in the usa for some in the past which were fine (I haven't used enough to form an opinion of which are best, but they performed as I expected). I think they now have a UK agent.

My hesitation with bang good for this insert would be that it would be a small saving and a longer wait for delivery than buying within the UK. Where you can save more and are in no hurry, it is a different consideration. I don't get through enough inserts to buy in bulk.

Banggood doesn’t make anything, they are a front end for Chinese manufacturing, as in Amazon marketplace. So there are good products available and carp. Don't expect top quality for the cheapest price. However you can often get good quality for a reasonable price.

This!

I've bought a variety of metalworking tooling from Banggood, and have no reason to think woodturning tools would be any different...

Some has been indistinguishable from quality import tooling sold from UK warehousing by reputable importers like Chronos and RDG tooling.

Others have been wholly unfit for use (I'm thinking of a carbide endmill that exploded on contact with mild steel, when a blunt HSS endmill would cut fine in particular).

I've had more consistent success purchasing from AliExpress, as you're dealing directly with manufacturers, so you can better gauge the quality of the product from the listings, still not always perfect but I've never been burned as badly as I have via banggood.

Either way, the best advice would be to assume that anything you buy first time from an unknown listing might be total rubbish. Then when you receive it, if it's actually pretty good make a bookmark for that supplier and keep ordering from them.
