bandsaw rip fence upgrade

Has anyone used/got any of these? The fence that came with my AWSBS baby bandsaw is useless.

Since putting this on my E/B Bas 316 its transformed it, drift is easily dealt with and its rock solid

I had a good look at this one of the Axi fences when in Axminster last year. I was not really impressed. It seemed possibly a bit weak.

I am still looking for a bandsaw fence for my Startrite 352. I like the look of the Kreg one from Brimark. I will check them out when in the US next month.

I think it's horses for courses, Alan. Your Startrite is several orders of magnitude larger than the one I am thinking of.

Having said that, I took another look at the existing set-up and realised that, even though the original fence can be clamped up at any number of non-parallen angles to the blade, the gradations on the table are actually parallel to the blade. So if I line the fence up parallel to the gradations then everything is spot on.

I have the Kreg fence, and though its a bit shorter than my table its long enough for my purposes. Its very well manufactured and easy to correct for drift. I'm pleased with it, though its not a cheap option. Roger, surely if you line your fence up with gradations on the table you cannot correct for blade drift, or am I reading you wrong?

No..I lined the table/fence up with the blade a la Maskery. The trouble is that the Axminster fence on the small AWSBS can (as I now realise) be locked down in any number of different angles relative to the setting that I first achieved. Just a duff design. But it just so happens that when I lined the blade with the fence (by adjusting the table fixings) that fortuitously the gradations on the table scale are parallel to the blade.

I agree that the cheap Axi fence is totally crap, as was the blade it came fitted with

I have the axminster upgrade (all be it fitted to my tablesaw) and i reckon its the dogs

we've got a abws2 at work and the suplied fence on that is fine -so either they've changed the design or you just got a duff one
