I've ben experimenting over the last couple of days with making bandsaw boxes on my rubbish little Burgess bandsaw using some scraps I had lying around the workshop. I'm quite pleased with the results (well for a first try anyway) and thought I'd post some photos to get some opinions.

Cheers

Chris

These look good Chris. It`s something I`ve always meant to try but have never(so far) got round to.
I think that to be really appealing, bandsawn boxes need to have their drawers as tight fitting as possible. You seem to have done pretty well in that regard, especially as a first attempt. I`ve seen some fairly rough ones on craft stalls where they`ve been asking hefty prices.
look forward to seeing some more.

Ian

They're at least as good as 95% you see on the web ! I particularly like the pale one. What are the woods?

Thanks for the comments guys - there should be plenty more of these on the way!

I'm not 100% sure on the woods, the pale one is maple with black walnut handles, the spalted looking one I'm pretty sure is beech and the other one I have literally no idea.

The blade I've got in my saw at the moment is 1/4" wide, and to be honest it struggles a bit cutting these. I'm going to order either a 3/16" or 1/8" wide blade today, which hopefully should allow for cutting some tighter curves.

Nice job Chris, I recently did a bandsaw box myself for the first time, they are great to do and can look way more complicated than they really are!! My fave is the double drawer one.

Cheers, Mark

Nice boxes Chris! I've been wanting to try bandsawn boxes for some time now. Maybe once I get the shop set up.

I bought a copy of Lois Ventura's book a while back, but haven't taken a crack at it yet.
