They are cutting a few tree's down near me and i was wondering if i could use the block's for band saw box's or would i need to dry them out first

hi mock for stable wood it really needs drying out preferably as boards bearing in mind it would need around a year per inch thickness to air dry but if your in no rush why not if its free

You'll need somewher to store the green timber for a few years. My son-in-law is a tree surgeon and I happend to mention my liking for Yew. Within a week or so he had delivered a few nice yew logs ranging from 80-120cm long and 20 - 30cm thick. I have cut a few but the rest are awaiting attention and I know it will take at least a couiple of years to be suitable once planked. Best to buy dried timber for bandsaw boxes, or be prepared to wait.
