Bamboo pen

bought some laminted bamboo off ebay and turned me a pen, came out quite nice for a cheap kit.

Did that give much tear out, some of the grain looks like goes across the pen not along it?

I now have some pen kits, I have not tried turning one yet.

no the wood didn't tear out at all, but you do have to use VERY sharp tools, and wear a mask too.
I have bought some more off the guy, without pre drilled holes as i want to make pens with bigger kits, sands and finishes nice too, try putting a little wood dye on it.

mmm.. distinctly unappealing, that's one 'wood' I'll happily avoid.

I find the the overall shape reminds me of an ample lady who's had a gastric band applied externally :roll:

I think its a really nice pen.The pinched in at the middle(Marilyn Monroe) look is quite effective
