Howzit all. New to this community - its like discovering a gold deposit! Anyhow, you all look like a friendly bunch, so I thought I'd share my little pet project.

I lie. It's been an absolute B@!! ache. What was supposed to be a simple weekend of redecoration ended up in a complete rebuild over a period of more than 12 months. How naive I was when I started peeling back the layers.

I'm a desk jockey by day, so this was a huge undertaking! Pretty darn proud with the progress so far. Not quite done, but about time I share the journey. Who knows - it might inspire some other fool to take a similar plunge! 8)

Once the carcass was sound again, it was time to don a new frock.

"Friendly bunch"? Ho boy, DO NOT get into any general chat threads

 :D

Yup, big projects always start off as small projects. Youll never see a TV build program that comes in on budget.
Youve learnt rules 1 and 2.

1. never volounteer
2, if it looks like rubbish, order a skip up front. Only grade listed building are worth trying to "repair" rather than "replace"

I think there are moe shed builds going on at the moment than actual woodworking, so youll be in good company soon. 8) 8)

No pub is complete without a deck!

And that's where I've got to so far. A journey of self discovery

Watch this space for the final product.

Welcome saffer. I was a long time resident on a South African forum. I hope you're here as long as I was there. I'm going to have such fun once you start talking about braais!! :)

I'm not sure what a BBQ is... presume it has to do with frozen burger patties

There was supposed to be some cover for a braai but as an after thought not really fitting with roof. Next best option is a standalone covered braai area to the side... happy to crowdsource ideas!!

i now have more experience as a chippy (rudimentary) than making potjie (none!). So I hope that talking about braais include swapping notes on making potjie!!

I've given up counting pennies. As conciliation, I tell myself that it would have been more if I got someone in to do it. Banking the "saving" as beer money!

Nice job!

Those concrete joist holder blocks must have cost a fair few penny's!, i went the cheaper flat block route.
