Hi All,

I've got a Axminster HBS310N bandsaw, which I got new from Axminster in 2015/16.
I've never managed to get it set up. Well I say 'never' I mean I set it up every time I use it and within 30 seconds its all over the place again. It drives me mad.
I put it down to me, but I must have watched every youtube 'Bandsaw set up video' going 10 times over.

People seem to rate the Axminster gear but I'm fast losing interest. There prices are sky rocketing! (not that they have ever been cheep)

What should I do? flog it and get another one or do I just live with it... its had probably less than 100 hours use in that time so its not worn out and nothings damaged. It just will not stay set up.

Nick

they are pretty simple machines but once set properly they run + run.......
as Lurker says buy a decent band saw blade.....Tuff Saw makes good un's.....
I use em for wood work and in my metal shop......good prices and cant be beat for qual......
I used to buy my blades from Machine Mart (of all places) and am guessing they will be the same rubbish as Axminster......
I cant see why everbody rates them......

u dont say what the probs are but basicaly does the blade track OK...?....
before you look at the guides is the blade tension correct....bit like a bow string should ring ish when plucked.....very hard to describe....
if so then the next thing to look at is the guides...be it bearings or solids....
enough has been said how to set them up......
so once thats lot is sorted it's down to the blade.....
new blades can be out of wack out of the box......not often.....best test is by substitution....one for another....
lastley......do you have a "Men in Sheds" organisation near you.....
I'm sure there will be someone there that will help you....

You don't mention tpi which is important
I don't know the saw, but is 5/8" getting a bit too wide?
5/8 is as big as I can go, (according to the info pack)
1/4'' 4, 6 and 10 tpi,
3/8'' 6tpi
1/2'' 4 and 6 tpi.
5/8'' 4 tip,
I really only use the band saw for two jobs, prepping stock into boards from slabs. then recutting to try to go from say 28mm to a couple of 14mm boards..

my issue is for the recutting anything over 50mm deep cut the saw just will not play for more than 30 seconds of cut till it starts screaming at me or the blade walks.

I know what your thinking.. blade tension right? well I get it good and tight and in the tensioning unit theres spring and I have even had that pressed right up o_O and its just not having it.

I keep doing over the manual to see if i'm missing something but theres just nothing in there to help.
