Axminster AWSL Lathe

Evening everyone

I have the Axminster AWSL lathe and the belt broke. I got a new belt but can't seem to find a way to get the belt over the top pulleys.

Does anyone have this lathe and could explain how to fit a new belt please?

How! chief.

Look at the rear wheel on the head stock and there should be a hex head grub screw. Loosen the grub screw and the wheel unscrews, take care I think there is a wave washer behind it. Once you have the wheel off go inside and loosen the locking screw on the pulley wheel on the spindle. You should now be able to draw the spindle forward slowly until you have enough room to slip the belt over the end.

Put everything back together in reverse, but make sure you leave very little clearance between the rear wheel and head stock otherwise you can have some play in the spindle when turning.

Once you are happy and everything is tight go inside and set the pulley wheel with the lower one and lock up.

Thanks for that. Had me stumped. Just couldnt find any possible way to get the belt over the top.
