When i bought my new to me p/t I Decided to give it and entire service before i started using it more choice than necessity anyway i decided to replace the v belts and chains plus the driver roller so all would be OK for many years to come .

parts arrived a few days ago, so started to strip it today,started to fit new parts when i noticed a major part was missing it's one of the tension spring + bolt and nut from the out feed roller left hand side , CAN ANYONE HELP HERE PLEASE.

Phoned axminster today and was told not a stock item 2 MONTH FOR ORDER TO ARRIVE from far east . grrrr . :twisted: :twisted:

the size in length is (54.46mm * dia 17.46mm) dia of steel wire used is 2.99 mm any one know of a possible source for springs or anyone know anyone who might have a duff machine that might possible part with this part . any info would be much appreciated .hc

Not quite an exact replacement but pop into your local car/motorbike engine refurbisher and see what they have in their scrap bin. They always replace all the valve springs on a refurb so have loads knocking about.

I always had good luck with odd tension springs around that size from them and all for a thank you or silver for the tea box.

It's a long shot, but try Southern Springs, they are a large manufacturer but they might have something kicking around, in the meantime, I'll have a dig around at work.

Springmasters and Lee Spring are a couple of firms that have a large range of stock springs that they will sell in small quantities.

From my experience with Charnwood, they seemed to have very few spares on the shelf and everything else had to come from Chaiwan on a very long delivery - 3-4 months.

new springs arrived today , i have cut them to length , fitted new driver roller and new bushes all top part is reassembled (on bench )all bolt only finger tight for now waiting to be replaced on to lower base tomorrow so it all sits in line and level before tightening, then I'll reassemble the drive cogs and chain.hc :roll: :lol: .hc

hi all

all parts now fitted and machine running as it should and cutting fine . I would recommend when lifting on and off the roller section get a friend to help it is quite a lump . It doesn't take brain of Britain to understand how it all done quite easy really .

I learnt a lot about this machine stripping and rebuilding it at least if it should go wrong I will know how to fix it , good experience.

First pic showing wear in the driver roller .

third showing all belt and new chains fitted

forth showing timber now as it should be

and the last two pics all assemble and ready for use .

Now lets see got to finish off the overhead extraction to the band saw then that will be ready so i can see how good it will clear away any dust and report back on that , in the mean time keep looking for a new saw then i can make a start of tool cabinets, 8) yes. hc :lol: :lol:
