Get the usual daily emails from Axminster.

and I like this

So I think I will order one, I can place the order on line they tell me but I have got to come and collect it from store.

Don't like that way of doing business Axminster, if you send me an email making an offer you should honour it so don't send me any more mails. you are getting too
cunning with your email adverts.

DW I'm sure I've seen people on this site who live near an axminster outlet offer to pick things up for other members and post them on, if you ask someone may oblige.

I can't understand why it's in store only. If I had the funds I would also buy one, but I've spent a lot on new tools lately.

I'm confused. Axy offer free delivery on goods if the value exceeds £50. Which this clearly does. Are they saying this is strictly an in store only deal?? In which case are they saying that if you bought £50 worth of other kit that they wouldn't include this in the courier?? Surely not

I wonder if they have distributed all the stock to the stores and/or are using the price promotion to drive more business to the stores ?

If they aren't holding the stock in their central distribution depot in Axminster then I don't think the stores are set up to ship goods out (although it's not that difficult to arrange a courier of course !) ?

Or they just want more footfall in the stores and know that once you are in them you'll be overcome by temptation and pick up loads more goodies, they know us all too well

Cheers, Paul

I've had out-of-stock on-line items taken from the store to satisfy an on-line order. I think this is a strategy to encourage you to visit a store and spend even more money on shiny things you never knew you didn't need.

That sounds exactly like the dastardly tactics a retailer might use. I bet their marketing director recently went on a course run by Tesco!!

I went into an axy store the other day to look at some axes form their website and was told they were online order only.

I wanted to hold it and see the grain orientation for myself so went and got one elsewhere.

Well I have uninscribed from there email junk mail so it wont happen again.

I can always go on the web and look if I want something but I think I will make Rutlands first call

... at 160 miles round trip to my nearest Axminster shop I don't think they'll get me paying a visit!

If only I had this problem. Any chance of Axminster opening a Scottish store? There is a nice big warehouse space about half a mile from me

I think you are cutting off your nose to spite your face.....They are not that bad, great service, fantastic product range,, as well as many good deals and low prices plus, as pointed out, it was pretty clear from the advert it was an in store only deal........I don't think they have tricked you in any way.....or been underhand at all......just my 2 cents

At least you're in the right county John or are you afraid the good lady will use diversion tactics for afternoon tea in Lyme Regis?

The lady coming up 77 doesn't want to do a round trip of 140 miles but she needs to keep an eye on my spending if you know what I mean.

My nearest store is 40 miles away at High Wycombe - not really far enough so I have to exercise huge restraint not to nip down the M40 to browse their goodies.

........... Fife would be better than nothing! But warehouse space is at a premium up here in the oil capital of Europe :(

Seriously, we should all hope that Axy don't repeat the mistakes of other retailers like Tabwell, who try to open branches all over the place and suddenly find that the additional cash flow doesn't accommodate the extra cost of the space, so come a cropper.
