Aqualisa shower dripping can it be fixed

Our Aqualisa shower has started dripping, to replace the cartridge is £120 trade.
Its going to be moved in a couple of months and maybe replaced so don't want
to spend this much.
Took the cartridge out but can't see anything wrong with it.
Any tips on how to stop it dripping short time.
If it helps its an Aqualisa victorian style and about 10 years old.

On the ones we have, the temp and water flow controls are concentric, one inside the other, fitted onto splined shafts, and the big one has a rotation stop moulded on. You should be able to simply move the knob round by one notch on the shaft allowing "off" to be slightly tighter.

I find fitting the circlips a right pain but you can obviously do it as you've inspected the cartridge already.

They are a right pain. I sympathise!

I have a driving single leaver mixer tap and plan to remove the cartridge and descale it in vinegar to see if that helps.

Did you notice different o-rings/rubber seals when you took the cartridge out ? You can buy replacement packs with the sizes needed for our showers, or if you are lucky you might find sizes you need at the usual places a bit cheaper.

Pete, a can of coca cola is cheaper than i pint of vinegar, and it eats scale like billyo. Just a rinse in hot water afterwards to get the sugar off.

I usually use 1/4 vinegar and water to descale the shower head.

I used to fit quiet a few Aqualisa products in a previous life, most of the problems I encountered could be rectified as Pete suggests with rescaling, just drop the cartridge in a solution of your choice & chances are it will sort the problem.
It's worth doing even if you've ordered a new one as it's always handy to have a spare.

Put some smirnof in there and youll never taste the difference.

Hi folks, back again as i fitted the new cartridge + o ring at the back and hey presto it still drips.
Any idea's as after 2 weeks of dripping, the other half is now on my back ( don't know which is worse
the drips or the nagging !).
Our water is very acid so can't see any problems with scale building up.
Don't want to replace shower as this will mean tiles coming off and a bid job ! anyway the whole lot is going
to be moved by the end of the summer as plans passed for new extension.

If its dripping water, then the tap washer is not sealing properly. I dont know this particular shower unit, but somewhere in there is a tap washer. Inspect it for splits, are just gone hard and not sealing.

Were the mating surfaces the new cartridge tightened against clean & corrosion free also did you put silicon grease on the mating surfaces/washers

Hi Sunnybob yes thats the one i have, replaced the o ring with the one that came with the new unit.
Hi Doug did not use any silicone grease, will pop into screw fix later and give some a go .

Tried grease and wiped over everything with wire wool, still dripping !
Time to get a plumber out me thinks !
