I'm hoping someone here can help with my vise, it's been handed down from my father, he was a railway man through and through like his father before him and this was an engineers vise from the NZ railways, but Google will not provide anything on it, it's a record 28 vise, jaw width 200mm, handle approx 600mm and vise stands approx 360mm high,
Any information much appreciated.

Made in Sheffield just up the road from me. Might have been cast in Derby just down the road from me.

I'm just guessing but i think 1940s post war, have you ever seen another around in the UK, I'm in NZ and i haven't
 
How about the national railway museum in York or one of the heritage lines....

Someone is bound to know something from thier greesy overalls!!!
