Brilliant Martin. Can I ask where you got the pattern and what thickness ply did you use. How do you finish your ply pieces. I am fairly new to scrollsawing so am keen to pick up as many tips as I can.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours.

Charley

Cheers!

Hi Charley, the pattern is from a book called '50 Easy Weekend Scroll Saw Projects' by John Nelson. The ply is about 3 or 4mm, I didn't measure it, it's from a load of sheets I had given. It's probably old packing as the outer veneers are so thin that a sneeze can sand it off. You are better asking others about finishing as I rapidly lose interest when I have finished cutting. If I am using good quality ply I tend to just sand by hand until it looks half decent, then blather it in teak oil or spray it with the Wilko's spray, the name of which I can't remember at the moment. Sorry I am not much help.

Nice piece of work Martin. =D>

Take care, Merry Christmas.

Chris.

Hi Martin,
I like that but it way above me.How long did it take you to cut it out?

Peter.

Difficult to say how long, but I'd guess around 4/5 hours including a couple of coffee breaks. The cheap ply slowed me down a bit as it seems to break the No 3 FD blades more than quality ply, and it didn't disappoint me, twice. It could have taken me longer as each of the rectangles in the left hand upright should have been made up of 4 triangles for a lattice effect, but I couldn't face another 30 small internal cuts.
