Lets talk about AKiane. Shes been desribed as possibly the greatest art talent for 500 years.

at age 5 she was drawing like this:

at age 8 she was painting like this:

at age 9

she nows 13 years old. She paints collosal canvases (like 5 feet by 7 feet) like this:

Her talent is absolutely incredible. Go look, you are witnessing the rise of the Rembrant of the 21st Century. Originals of her art change hands for $100,000 to $1,000,000

there was a program on a while ago about her, aswell as some other seriously talented kids.

She was accused of being a fraud, and having the pictures painted by her mother i believe. Turned out to be nonsense and she is just a genuinly VERY gifted young girl!

Shes seems to be 1 of very few "fine" artists that can actually command massive amounts of money, which i dont think many of the "greats" managed while they were alive.

Umm.......how many 12 year olds do you know can paint that well.......they would be technically brilliant if an adult painted them, never mind the content, the fact she's only 12 years old is incredible.

Very few adults can learn to paint with such technical competance. If this is what she can do at 12, can you imagine what she will be able to do at 25 years old? or 50 years old? You could be seeing another Sisteen Chapel being created by then .........

Absolutely. It shows proper talent and skill, unlike the crap produced by Tracey Emin, for example. The only sort of art she produces is talentless con art.

To take this a stage further: art is not simply technique, it is about expression, vision and style. It should challenge the viewer to make some sort of response, to engage.

This is a triumph of technique over taste.

I don't like the subject matter much. I wouldn't give any of them houseroom personally.

But there's no denying the girl has real talent. Some of the detail in her work is astonishing.

Smudger, can YOU paint that well? Could YOU paint that well at aged 12? Do you know any other 12 year olds that can paint that well ?

I suspect the answer to all 3 questions is 'no', in which case, content aside, it cant be denied that the technique and execution of the works are vastly more brilliant than can be produced by the other 6 billion of us.

Rich - I don't dislike you, but I find your posts very annoying as so many of them are just moans about something you read in the Daily Mail. Try to break the stereotype.

Don't be so bl**dy silly.

No, the point is the content is irrelevant, the technical competence of the execution of the paint is beyond criticism, its clearly done with a skill that is absent in most of us at adults, let alone in a 12 year old.

You dont have to like the content, its totally separate from the execution. One is subjective, one isnt. The talent in the use of paint in constructing the images is self evident and clearly far beyond the skill of most of us.

Personally I cant wade through Shakespeare, but its clearly clever stuff. Ditto Opera. You can appreciate the talent without liking the content.
