I have just tried to book two tickets to the North of England Wodworking show on the SK Promotions website without success! I had two attempts at buying tickets on my credit card and it asked me for a security code for my Mastercard which I have forgotten. After clicking on the forgotten code box and trying to fill in the fields it finally refused the transaction even though there is plenty left on the card?? I am a little more than annoyed about this as it means I will have to now pay on the door which is more expensive or not bother attending! Why on earth do I have to remember another security number when all other sites I have used my security code on the card is enough? Grrrrr!

You can get the same problems with the Barclaycard (Visa) and their security system.

If you don't use the card to deal with a company that subscribes to the system for 30 days the password etc becomes invalid. Does not matter how many other on-line purchases the card has been used for in the mean time the transaction gets rejected.

Attempts to re-register on line invariably result in card being deemed invalid or non existent.

The only way you can get it sorted is to phone up during the hours the phone is manned.

We have now resorted to using a different card for on-line transactions with a deliberately set small credit limit, mind you that has it's problems when the bank keeps raising the limit.

mailee, I agree that this type of thing can be very frustrating however I won't be using my credit card to pay in advance for other reasons: Two of us went along to the show last year without paying in advance. After parking we joined the very long queue to get into the hall and it started to rain (it is Yorkshire after all). Shortly after joining the que we were informed that it was only for people who had prepaid! So we had to join the queue of two others. already in the dry, to pay our extra £1 entrance fee. So spending a pound to save forty five minutes in the rain seemed a bargain to us. However on the down side it gave us longer to spend more on shiny things inside. We are following the same plan again this year

cheers

I think the security code is the last 3 numbers on the back of the card , where the signature strip is , may be wrong

No Blister, I had already entered that one. This is a seperate password that the card needs for this site?? No idea why as normally the three digit code on the back of the card is enough. Thanks for that Andy, I will pay on the door sounds like a better bet to me. :D

The last 2 or 3 shows I have looked at pre booking details have had a booking fee applied which made a nonsense of any saving anyway.
