Alternative to Miniwax

Miniwax polyurethane is to expensive for me to buy. Is there a English alternative I could use to do pen tube dipping.

They are very pretty, I’ve never dipped into polyurethane, it would be a little difficult with furniture ha ha. Do you use oil or water-based polyurethane?.
I always use Johnstons water-based it’s about £30 for 2 1/2 L, dries really quickly and tough as old boots whilst being the opposite of treacly. Ian

That's a bit expensive for me considering the amount I will use. I already have half a can of this shown. Would I need to thin it to use for dipping

Having not much success on the above information l went a different route.
I produced these which were commissions for local people.
This was using CA glue to give me the hard wearing high sheen finish on a waterslide decal. It works absolutely great and the finished item is stunning.

Yeah I have tried that. For me I am big fan of CA finish,I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I like it.

If it works, it works. The results look good.

I liked the finish of CA but I disliked the process. I managed to get good results, but suddenly had a few issues- I presume that they were me or the environment rather than the process itself.
