Anyone going ?

Anyone been before and think its worth the trip ?

I'm just getting into woodworking and am hoping it could be a great place to start (and buy some kit !!)

I've been twice to the show and found that it was worth the trip from Dorset, it also gives you an opportunity to meet other members of the forum.

Iv'e never been to a woodworking show in my life, I'm determined to go to Ally Pally on the 8th Feb, if any one else from the forum is going, can we make a date to meet in the coffee hall or something like that, it would be so nice to meet other forum members, the 8th is not set in concrete, I could go on the 9th or 10th, it's a whole day out for me and my wife, could the forum mods, perhaps, draw up a plan for a "firms outing"? whatever happens, we look forward to meeting SOME of you.
Regards, Rich.

I suggested to my wife that I would like to go this year - then she reminded me that we are flying out of London to Singapore that evening evening for our 25th wedding pressie holiday. My suggestion that I could be home by 3pm didn't go down too well :-(

Still, there's always next year.

If you go please post a report - I've never been to the London show, just the ones in NEC that didn't happen this year.

What normally happens at these events is that we all meet up ay noon by the Chestnut stand. I'm sure nearer the date people will start adding their names to the list.

Shows are a good place to get your hands on different makes of kit in one place.

IMHO, you need to do a lot of research before going to the show. Any time invested beforehand, will be time well spent. You will, hopefully, know the questions to ask.

Prices at shows aren't necessarily the best, but you'll know that if you've done your research.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi All,
Should anyone be going to AP there is a good chance you will run into Waka there so I suggest arming yourself with crucifixes, garlic necklaces and wooden stakes etc else you might find your wallet rising out of your pocket all on its own and flying over the counter somewhere like Festool??
Cheers Martin :)

Pete - have repeatedly asked SWIMBO for the directions to the good tool emporiums (the ones with all the LN and Veritas stuff) in Stanley  ...as of yet, no reply :( - Rob

I certainly hope to be going again this year, meeting Philly, Waka, Martin, Escudo and the others last year was great fun and hopefully something at the show will shake me out of my reverie and rekindle my desire to get into the workshop.

I'll probably be going, not to buy anything for myself, but just to help others out.

Oh Christ - I'm either going to have to sell a kidney or 'accidentally' leave my wallet at home...
