I have treasured his book for very many years. The newspaper obituary will now be pasted into it. Alan had a Woodworker article very many years ago. It was a garden seat - you may remember. I only got as far as making the ends before I realised that this item of design was not the 'best of Peters'. I still have those ends and one day they will be used (or modified!).
It's good to know the connection with Edward Barnsley.
I think there's an open weekend on Sat and Sunday at Froxfield. I went to the previous one and it was a most moving experience to tread the same boards as the Barnsleys.
Fred.

Remarkable timing to your post Fred.

Alan was a truly remarkable cabinet maker. A man who's work i find greatly inspiring and someone whom i'd love to have to have spent some time with.

He was a predecessor of mine at Shoreditch College Egham. I have a copy of his book.
Same here on both counts. I once spoke to one of the lecturers who commented that they couldn't teach Peters anything about woodwork (as Alan had just come from the Barnsley 'shop) - Rob
