In the eternally wet North
Sunday..jumped in the 4x4 to go to work. Shortly after joining the road, I heard 'thwick..thwick..thwick' in time to wheel rotation. Dammit... a flat.

Got out to see that, on one of the rear tyres, a small hawthorn branch had got entangled in the wheel. Went to untangle it only to realise that one of the spikes had punctured the tyre!! I was gobsmacked. Amazed at the strength of the spike.

Puncture - right where the tyre wall joined the main tread. Loads and loads of miles left but they won't repair it.

£95 gone - puff. Ain't nature wonderful

Sad to hear it. Anywhere of about 20mm to 30mm ish from the tyre wall they say it's not repairable. Because the tyre curve, wall to tread, the patch tends not to stick properly even when they use the pull through repair rubber. When it's on the tyre wall it's certainly a no no, because of the weight, pressures etc from the car and movement. I must admit that I hate it when something like that happens.

I always carry a can of Holts tyre weld for such occasions, kept a front tyre up on my Maverick for over six months only changed it when the tread wore out.

You should try mountain biking, hawthorn is to be avoided at all costs and even tiny bramble thorns can ruin your ride. We had two practically invisible ones the other week. A right ball ache

You see, their favourite food is acacia, and the thorns go straight through undigested. The thorns are up to 4 inches long, and hard as nails, and in the piles of poo they can stand nicely upright. They can go straight through a truck tyre.

Now, don't tell me that you haven't been warned!!

In india, they have a use for used coffee grounds.

You put them on puddles of elephant wee, its soaks it up and kills the smell.
