Good morning guys
I am making a Christmas display for the front garden of upscaled automata characters using a timber kit ( see photo attached ) as my base . The kit is about 4 inches high and I am up scaling them to about 16 inches.

There will be about 12 characters moving about playing instruments
I am ok making the characters but no idea what sort or motor to buy and power them
It only needs to run really slowly but assume I will need quite a bit or torque.
Also as it’s in the front garden will need to be quite quiet.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Dan

Just the sort of thing I enjoy doing! Love Automata, I have used the cloth covered round in section elastic you can buy at fabric supply places for drive belts in the past, there is a trick joining it- pls ask.
Sorry I don’t use motors on mine.

Thanks , I will need a motor as intend to run all of them at the same time to make an orchestra and given I am going to make them all far larger than the model kits it’s going to be a bit of guess work.
Should all be good fun though
Any help would be very much appreciated
Cheers

Many years ago, I was given all of the "innards" of a couple of kiddies rides which used to be common outside supermarkets etc.. These had electric motors and gearboxes (right angled drives). It might be worth researching such devices.
