hi guys
can anyone give me some advice on what to finish some pine bedroom furniture with, that ive just finished making for my grandson
i like the natural look of wax, but because the furniture includes a desk and a desk like playing area i need something a bit harder wearing, but dont want to use varnish that will chip/peel over time, any suggestions would be welcomed

regards

Depends what you mean by hard-wearing...

I'd suggest using a sealer first, Shellac Sanding Sealer would be the one I'd normally say for this type of project, followed by a coat or two of wax, as this is your preferred method.

The wax will withstand lots of knocks and bumps; if anything is hard enough to dent the timber the wax will move with the timber rather than crack.
It won't be so good for hot/wet items placed on it though, it depends if this is likely.

Alternatively, I would suggest a Hard Wax Oil. We just happen to make one of those too, although there are others out there of course.

thanks for the reply terry,
i use your companys products a lot especially the wood wax 22,but i've never tried the hard wax oil, so i will now give it a go although the time the missus as finished it will probably be 100% mr sheen.

regards
