Hi Everyone,

Please bear with me as i am a total new comer to your world of carpentry!

My uncle passed away over a year ago and has left behind a workshop full of wood working machines, tools & wood in the form of doors...skirting boards...tables, you name it! Anyway my aunt has asked me to sell them for her and i am not sure where to start. I'm wondering if any one knows of a place that would be interested in not only the machines but the wood too as there is lots of the stuff. Any decent second hand shops out there would be greatly appreciated. My uncle loved creating everything and anything and was passionate about anything to do with wood and turning it into a piece! So i am really looking for somewhere that can offer us a decent price and not take us on just because we know nothing about the industry or the machines!

Any info or pointers would be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks!

PS - Happy Turning!!!??!@!!

Hi Just a thought. Why not list them, with pictures on here (or via another web site people can access) and ask for best offers?
Chances are you will get more that way then just selling them en-mass to some dealer who will pay a fraction of the price and sell them for a fortune.
Being in london there should also be people around (on this site) who will probably be willing to pop round and eiter make an offer on some bits or with the wood buy it from you - if it's any good (no disrespect)

It has been done a couple of times on here before...

Just my tuppence worth :)

Hi JD welcome to the forum.

You might be better selling them individually or as a job lot on somewhere like Ebay, or as woody said put some pictures up on a web site.

Cheers

Mike

A specialist company will by the entire stock from you, but at a price that enables them to make a profit.
Offering everything as a job lot to such as us here is a waste of time, most of us will have the larger items and won't want to buy a job lot just to obtain the item that we do want.
Sell as individual items then if you get stuck with anything, sell that to the specialist companies.
You will find such companies listed at the bottom of such sites as 'woodworking machines' on E-Bay.
Hope that helps.

HI, I think if you make a list with specific models and brands (maybe pictures to see the conditions) there is a lot of honest people in this website that could guide you about prices but please don't trust me I just want to buy bargains  You can also follow you uncle steps an become a woodworker never is too late and is a beutifull hobby :D

Thanks for your advice guys - much appreciated!

I had a go at ebay but at the moment i am using public PCs and can't upload onto the site.

I think i shall put an add on here and see where that takes us, if any one is interested i'll be putting a new topic on the main board, i just wanted to thank you for your advice!

Cheers! JD

For maximum return, photograph each carefully, and offer them individually on ebay.

Without doubt the best method to achieve a good price.
