Adhesives for patterns

Any advice available on what the best "tacky" adhesive for temporarily sticking patterns onto work-pieces most welcome!

Hey i saw a tempary spray adhesive in hobby craft but it was a tenner for a small tin should let patterns peel off
So i bought a pritstick for a quid and just sand off the paper
I used clear Sellotape on raindeers for a bit of lube too any wrinkles will let dust bleed into them tho covering the pattern
Or you could water down some pva glue so its just tacky and sand off again

I cover wood in masking tape then pritstick the pattern onto that, when done pick off the masking tape along with the pattern. I don't know if this is the right way to do it but I also pretty well finish all the surface prep before adding the tape and pattern. I'm fairly new to scrolling myself, so I might be wrong. But Ill be watching this thread with interest to see what the consensus of opinion is.

This spray adhesive is Re-positionable and is easy to remove after cutting, however it is quite expensive, I use those cheap pens containing water based gum myself, a pack of 4 are available in various pound shops but you do have to work harder to remove the used pattern.

I use something called stick and spray from crafters companion as I had it on the shelf for paper crafting. It works great, peels, off when wanted and leaves no real residue.

Just found that on the Hobbycraft website - looks like a possibility!

I've said this before in another thread but I'll say it again because this spray is amazing. 250ml each can £5.99. (3 for £15) which is better than one can of 3M

I originally bought this in the retail shops (Millers art store, Glasgow) but when they stopped selling it or didn't have any left and started stocking 3M and other expensive brands I just googled it & found it's actual website.

I would strongly suggest this stuff.

It's decently worth it. Just make sure you do the 'masking tape down first, spray patter (or masking tape) then put pattern on masking tape' method. It's the best as the masking tape is easier to get off at the end.

I personally haven't had any problem getting this off, I have more trouble with the packing tape if this is wrapped around both side a it stick underneath.

I will add that I also use the stick and spray for stack cutting. I spray a piece of paper on both side and sandwich in the middle of 2 bits of wood. I then wrap the peices in packing tape and get no movement at all . They pull easily apart when finished.

I've actually found that unless you're paying about 7 quid a roll for masking tape, you might as well superglue the stuff to your walls. The non-branded stuff seems to be utter gash these days - it were a lot better when I were a lad (homer)
