Hi,
I bought the abranet hand sanding kit from the european woodworking show today and once I got home, I was itching to give it a test, so here goes;
Firstly; their claims regarding dust extraction are not exaggerated, it works fantastically well and I couldn't see any traces of dust on my bench.
Secondly; the ergonomics are perfect and it fits into the hand beautifully.
Thirdly; because the dust is being extracted so efficiently there isn't anything to clog the sanding sheet which means it sands very quickly with little effort.
Fourthly; the kit includes 2 sheets of each of the grits from 80 through to 600.
So I thought i'd give it a challenge by sanding some rough saw oak from full on rough (you would normally plane it first when its that rough) all the way through the grits to 600. It took circa 5 mins to work through all the grits and the end result is the smoothest piece of oak I have ever felt! Seriously I never knew oak could feel like silk it is that smooth.
To summarise, for the deal price of £30 its an absolute bargain and produces fantastic results extremely quickly and best of all no dust to clean up
I'm very happy I bought it and it is probably one of the best value for money woodworking tools I have ever bought.
P.s. did i mention I like it :roll: :lol:
