I bought some Abranet 125 discs to use with my Bosch ROS. Previously I've just used the Bosch discs but thought the dust extraction and longer life of the Abranet discs would be good.

I suspect that might be true but the Velcro on the back appears to be rubbish. I use a disc for around a minute and then it flies off. After the first time it constantly flies off due to the Velcro having no stick left.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm really disappointed with them.

It is possible to buy a pad saver, which is a 2 sided velcro pad. I had a couple included when I bought a mirka air sander, the abranet discs I use stick to them fine.

Alternatively maybe your bosch sander has a worn pad that needs changing?

Ive not found abranet to be a problem with sticking to a pad ok.

I had an apprentice once who thought the velcro pad was the abrasive and sanded a whole cabinet! The velcro didnt work very well after that!

the pad saver is worth getting for the small price they cost as they will save you replacing you main pad.

I have sort of experienced what you are talking about with Abranet but it tends to be when i bump my Deros up against edges and the edges of the disk get a bit raggedy and then the disk sometimes starts to move about on the pad saver. But i have not had one come off totally in the time i have been using them! My only issue with Abranet is the lower grits tend to loose there cutting power quickly if being used for removal of paint finishes.

i would say get a pad saver and try it. If that and the disk then come off your Bosch i would say its a new pad for teh Bosch.

Been there got this tee shirt. I had / have a Bosch ROS. The abranet discs are not compatible with a number of Velcro backing pads and if used with certain machines the Velcro on the machine gets scrubbed off as it pokes through the Abranet sheet. I highly suspect that you will now find that no other sanding discs will stick on as a consequence.

Abranet have an intermediate pad or disc saver that you need to use. The Velcro is shorter and can be used with any sanding discs. They are cheap to buy, but the holes seldom align with the machines for dust collection and need a fettle to get them aligned.

You can buy replacement pads for most machines, but they are not cheap.

Plus 1 for the pad savers which I use and I don't have an issue with my Metabo. You really do need to make sure the dust extraction is always used though or the disks don't work as well as they should.

Cheaper to buy it with some more sanding sheets btw - I needed another new pad so went for an eBay seller who's chucking in a pad saver with 120 grit sheets.

I'd be interested in a link to the seller Wuffles (great name btw :D ). I have a load of 240g and some higher but could do with coarser disks
The mods might frown on posting a link but would appreciate a pm if poss.

cheers
Bob

I've PMd you, but mine were 150mm - I'll assume the seller can do 125mm also, who knows :)

That shouldn't be a problem if it's for a classified seller, rather than an auction.

I'd be interested to know too.

Deema is correct. The Abranet disks need their own pads as they are slightly different from other makes of pad. I know this as we used to use them exclusively at my last place of employment and had a chat to the Abranet guy. Luckily for me he had a spare one in his van at the time and made me a gift of one. :D Never had a problem with them since. I was using the Metabo sander at the time.
