part of the bangle and reverse chuck it onto the scrap to clean up the back edge.this is where my wooden spacer comes in handy on the screw chuck, it prevents the bangle sitting next to metal.

These 'how to's ' are just great for me, not know how to turn anything other than pens (ducks and runs), you dont fancy doing a goblet or small box with/without lid do you,,, pretty please
Many thanks for the time invested in this one, really enjoyed it.

I second the remarks from stevebuk - thanks for taking the time to set out the method with pictures. As a newcomer to turning, "every little helps"

hi
can i just ask, i am having trouble trying to think where you part the bangle from, is it the backing wood, and if so how do you re-connect it to it, and one final thing is, what is reverse chuck.
sorry if this sounds strange, but i need to know..

you part of between the shaped section of the bangle and the small flat bit of ash, that flat bit of ash will become the jam chuck for reverse chucking.
a jam chuck is a scrap bit of wood used for holding arkward bits and pieces without leaving any marks. to be able to succesfully jam chuck the bangle the inside of the bangle needs to be parralel.A good jam juck needs to be a tight fit but not too tight as you dont want to split your work trying to force it on and you need to be able to get it of aswell.
I said reverse chuck as its similar to how a bowl is finished because its revervesd to face the other way.

if you look through the center of the bangle in this photo you can see the jam chuck made from the waste wood in the background.

many thanks for the explanation, i understand now. I thought it was funny, when you said part it off, i just couldn't understand how you stuck it back it on, but now its all clear.
Many thanks
looking forward to the Goblet..
