The Kent Air Ambulance landed about 300 metres from my house this morning - a great piece of flying to get about the same distance from the casualty.

Caused quite a stir locally. Here's the take-off :)

Ray.

It's amazing how tight a space they can set down in.

NOTAR. Cool. I don't know why our hospital doesn't use those. We've got 5 or 6 of these.

They might not be able to get closer to the casualty when they land but they get a straight run to the hospital with no red lights.

In the Uk the air ambulance service is normally totally funded by the public -which is just mad as far as I'm concerned, if anything was a good use of my tax money....

Got to agree £ per £ I think Cornwall Air Ambulance deserve some government funding, but on second thoughts the money grabbing twisters can't cut what they don't give money too. :-k

Here's a pic from two years ago saving the life of a close friend.

More tragic IMO is that the lifeboats are a charity! How ridiculous is that!

Cheers

Tim

For a time they weren't Tim. But the board got so fed up with government interference they returned themselves to charitable status.

Roy,

Driving through the neighbouring village last year the Air Ambulance was in someones front garden, The blades were just overhanging the neighbours fences, And not much clearance to the front and back either! I always do my best when i see a Tin being rattled for the Air Ambulance.

On my way home there were 2 skid size indentations in their lawn, A reminder of the skill of the pilot.
