Hi:

I have been uploading a few short technique type videos to Youtube that I haven't posted about here. There are four single segment clips so far, and I may have posted about one of them before. The clips are:

Hollowing with a 1/2" spindle gouge (may have been posted before):

Traditional grind bowl gouge cuts (response to a question on the Triangle Tea Light video):

Shear scraping with the side grind bowl gouge:

The bowl I was working on in the last video may look a tad familiar to some. It is a bowl blank I purchased in the same place and at the same time as the one I used in my "No Chuck Bowl" video. I would hazard a guess that it was cut from the same board since it was almost identical to that one. There are pictures of that bowl in this thread:

Here are some pictures of the new bowl finished. I tried to reproduce the form of the first one as well as I could from memory:

Mulberry bowl, 6 5/8" diameter, 2 5/8" high.

Look close, Wizer? :D

Take care
Bob

P.S>: Oh, yeah, there is a series of segments on turning a tool handle that I had not posted here, as well. The playlist is at: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 4614ADFCFA

I meant to say actually Bob, the bowl you sent me appears to have darkened a bit and looks lovely. It's got a flash of sapwood on one side and the contrast is just lovely. All the family seem to ignore my efforts and pick your one up!!

Thanks for the new vids, this will at least give me something to do tomorrow at work ;)
